Chapel Worship Led by Parent Volunteers

Posted on May 4, 2026

On Monday 20 April 2026, our Chapel service was led by a dedicated team of parent volunteers. Their quiet, faithful service—both behind the scenes and on stage—strengthened the ONE ACS spirit and reminded our boys that faith is nurtured in community.

Worship lies at the heart of the Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) family. More than a weekly routine, it is a shared space where we pause, reflect, and align our lives with God’s purpose—nurturing mind, heart, and spirit. As a Methodist school, Chapel also anchors the “ONE ACS” spirit, drawing students, staff, and families together as one community.

The 2026 theme verse calls us to serve with sacrificial love and to shine for Him: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, ESV)

Preparing to lead worship

In response to this call to shine, a group of parent volunteers stepped forward to plan, prepare, and lead worship at Chapel. Their presence and participation affirmed that the work of faith formation is most fruitful when school and home journey together.

Leading worship begins well before Monday morning. In the days leading up to Chapel, the parent volunteers gathered to practise the songs, review the flow of service, and prepare their hearts in worship. It was also a meaningful time of fellowship—serving together, learning together, and encouraging one another as we sought to lead the boys with confidence and reverence.

On the morning itself of 20 April, there was a calm sense of purpose as the AV boys from ACS(P) helped to set up the stage and the parent volunteers made their final checks.

A final run-through before chapel begins. In those simple moments – moving equipment, testing microphones, and taking our places – we were reminded that worship involves both preparation and posture.

It has been truly a privilege to serve. We thank God for every parent volunteer who gave their time and gifts, and we are grateful for the opportunity to worship alongside our boys. As we continue to answer His call to shine, we warmly invite more parents to consider serving in this ministry.

An invitation to serve

If you are a parent/grandparent/guardian and would like to serve in Chapel worship—whether in singing or playing the instruments, we would like to invite you to join us!
