Celebrating Children’s Day at ACS(P): A Journey into Old School Fun
Posted on October 8, 2024
At ACS(P), this year’s Children’s Day was a vibrant celebration filled with laughter and excitement from our 1,300 enthusiastic students, excluding our Primary 5 kids. With a focus on nostalgia, the theme of the event was “Old School Games,” allowing the children to experience the joy and simplicity of games their grandparents enjoyed in their childhood.
A Well-Organised Day of Fun
The event featured eight engaging stations, each dedicated to a different game. Thanks to our newly implemented system, students were able to rotate through the stations with their classes, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to participate in each activity. The atmosphere was electric, with kids showing great gusto and camaraderie, even among the upper primary students. The games included Zero Point, Five Stones, Fishing, Chapteh, Football, Marble Throwing, Eraser Game, and Kuti Kuti Game.
Delicious Treats to Savor
No celebration is complete without treats, and this year, the kids were delighted with a selection of ice cream and old school snacks. They enjoyed classic favourites like ice gems, potato wheels, and Apollo wafers, which added a sweet touch to their day. The smiles on their faces as they indulged in these nostalgic snacks were priceless!
A Grateful Acknowledgment
The success of the day wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our parent volunteers. Arriving early and dedicating four hours of their day, these dedicated parents guided the children through the games, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Their enthusiasm and encouragement were vital in fostering an environment of joy and inclusiveness, making the day even more special for the kids.
Building Connections Across Generations
The “Old School Games” theme allowed children to bond over shared experiences, bridging the gap between generations. Many parents reminisced about their own childhoods while watching their children enjoy the same games and snacks they once loved. This connection created a sense of community, reinforcing the idea that playtime is timeless.
A Day to Remember
That morning, the joyful sounds of laughter and cheers echoed through ACS(P). The event not only provided a day of fun and games but also instilled valuable lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, and the joy of simple pleasures. We look forward to next year’s celebration, where we’ll continue to create unforgettable memories for our children.
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, from our dedicated staff to the tireless parent volunteers—together, we created an extraordinary experience for our students.
